Adventure Films It's been 25 years since Steve McQueen passed away, and in that time few have filled the void that he left. Late in his career, McQueen wrote several movie scripts which were never produced. The New York Times is running a story about one such script that could now be made into a movie . The story is an epic featuring a motorcycle race across the deserts of Mexico.
The script was discovered 10 years ago by McQueen's son Chad, who incidentally shares his father's love of speed. Chad's childhood friend Lance Sloan, a producer at Warner, took the project on and teamed up with David Heyman, the producer of the Harry Potter films. Heyman states that the goal of making this film is to remain true to Steve McQueen's vision, who originally planed to shoot the film following completing of the epic racing film Le Mans. However, time and money constraints prevented filming, and the scripts sat untouched.
It will be interesting to see what becomes of this lost Steve McQueen film. Obviously some things will need to be adapted and it will of course lack the presence of "The King of Cool" himself. However this film, if done right, could represent a facinating tale as well as a lasting legacy to McQueen and his filmmaking career.
